So, Claire-bear and I flew down to SC this weekend to visit the family. Since the total plane time is approximately 3.5 hours I was able to get a lot cell phone gaming in. I was able to get 100% of the Doodle God achievements in the process.

I made a video of a gull flying over water using 3ds Max. He’s a little bigger than I intended, but it takes almost 2 hours to render. so he’s staying that size.

Lynda.com Courses Complete

I watched two lynda.com courses on 3ds Max over the last few days. One was on using Reactor within 3ds Max. Reactor essentially lets you use physics within your animation. The other was on character rigging. Character rigging essentially helps with animating characters by giving them an internal skeletal structure.

Well, I just finished my 3D Modeling and Animation III class. We were assigned a character description made my another classmate and told to come up with a concept based on the description and to model the character. We worked on that model for the entirety of the class.

Ok, so I am taking a class on lynda.com on using reactor in 3ds max. The first lesson was on how to break a window with a rock. I used similar techniques to make the following animation.

I created the textures on the bottle and the ball using photoshop. I recently discovered how to create and paint 3d objects in photoshop and literally cried tears of joy when I figured out how to do it.

Well, I’ve been experimenting with 3ds Max this week, because I beat Skyrim and need something else to fill my time. I created this animated Rubik’s cube. I’m working on learning how to use water now and plan on putting water under the cube so that when it rotates it will move the water. But, you know what they say about the best laid plans…

Character Modeling in 3ds Max

So, I took a short course on lynda.com in modeling characters in 3ds Max. I’ve actually been working on it for a while, because I’ve used it to help me create characters in my last two modeling classes. Well, I have been creating biped cats and aliens, but no humans. So, I decided to give it a try. I also wanted to experiment with the hair and fur modifier. I used Kyle as a reference. The hair looks kind of crazy This is the result:
